Native American Community Outreach Program (NACOP)
NAHBS supports the Native community through outreach
NAHBS helps to inspire Native high school students to further their education through our annual Native American Community Outreach Program. We encourage the pursuit of higher education by providing presentations on topics such as: how to apply for financial aid, choose a major, and public speaking. During our time in the Native community, NAHBS members also have the opportunity to learn about the history of the tribe and their culture. In addition, NAHBS has a College Day program in which Native high school students travel to Michigan State University to experience the campus first hand, while participating in workshops and admissions presentations. By continuing these programs, NAHBS hopes to increase Native American attendance at higher education institutions.
This year NAHBS collaborated with the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians on April 11-13, 2019.
